Current Initiatives
1. UAE Digital Taxation Forum
Recognizing the rapid shift towards e‑commerce and digital services, this Forum unites tax experts, fintech innovators, and government representatives to map out best practices around digital tax compliance. Over the past quarter, the Forum has hosted two interactive webinars, published a plain‑language guide to the new e‑invoicing rules, and begun building a sandbox platform for real‑time testing of filing software—all free to members.
2. Young Professionals Mentorship Programme
Designed to empower early‑career tax specialists, this year‑long programme pairs mentees with seasoned tax consultants and in‑house VAT experts. Beyond one‑on‑one coaching, participants attend quarterly “skills clinics” on topics like tax modelling, dispute resolution, and professional ethics. Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 80% of mentees reporting practical improvements in their day‑to‑day work.
3. UAE‑India Treaty Research Collaborative
Building on our ties with counterparts in India, this joint research group is analysing key provisions of the UAE‑India Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement. The team’s first white paper—on ‘beneficial ownership’ criteria—will be published next month, and we’re already planning a public briefing with both UAE and Indian officials to discuss recommendations.
4. Community Outreach & Financial Literacy Workshops
Taxation isn’t just a professional concern—it affects every resident and small business owner in the UAE. Our Outreach Committee has partnered with free zone authorities and local chambers of commerce to deliver hands‑on workshops in Arabic, English, and Hindi. To date, we’ve reached over 500 entrepreneurs, demystifying topics like business registration, VAT thresholds, and record‑keeping best practices.
These initiatives reflect our belief that tax expertise thrives when it’s shared—and that real impact comes when professionals engage directly with policymakers, businesses, and the wider community.
